Achieving Fellowship Status


The American Institute of Health Care Professionals, Inc. provides for a "Fellowship" status for Certified members, for the following Professional Divisions:

Grief Counseling

Legal Nurse Consulting

Stress Management

Spiritual Counseling

Clinical Hypnotherapy

Meditation Instruction

Pastoral Thanatology

Crisis Intervention Counseling

Health Care Life Coach

Holistic-Integrative Health Care Specialist

Forensic Nursing Practice

Fellowship is granted following the successful completion of all requirements as defined by the AIHCP. Fellowship status is considered the highest form of professional recognition by a certification body, and attests to the Fellow’s ongoing commitment, knowledge attainment, skill, and practice experience in a specialty practice.
Those who achieve Fellowship status are deemed a "Fellow in the American Institute of Health Care Professionals” in their respected Professional Certification division.


Requirements for Advancement to Fellowship

  • Requires a minimum of three years in certification as certified member in one of the above practice divisions.
  • Applicants for Fellowship shall be required to successfully complete one of the following requirements:
  • Completion of a Project in the subject matter of their certification- this may include preparing actual cases for formal presentation in written format, according to project guidelines. It may include other types of projects in the practice specialty. Those electing this option will first prepare and present a project proposal for review. Upon acceptance of the proposal, the candidate may then proceed with the project and its submission. Guidelines for presentation are provided to certified members.
  • Completion of a Thesis - submission of a formal paper (thesis) according to guidelines approved by the advisory board. The thesis must be focused on the practice specialty of the certified member, represent original inquiry and/or research and be comparable to a graduate level thesis completion. Guidelines for thesis completion are provided to certified members.
  • Evidence of attainment of 250 hours of continuing education directly related to the practice specialty and acquired over a 5 year period from the date of application for Fellowship. Hours of education used for initial certification as a certified grief counselor are not eligible for use in the 250 hour requirement for Fellowship. The American Institute of Health Care Professionals reserves the right to approve each of the submitted evidence of educational offerings. Education offerings may be college level courses, seminar presentations, etc. Full details are provided to certified members.

Timeline

Those applicants to Fellowship shall have three years from the date of acceptance of their Fellowship proposal, to submit their completed project or thesis. Evidence of continuing education hours may be submitted at any time. Certified must maintain their certification status with the AIHCP while advancing to Fellowship status.

And may use the initials : FAAGC

“Fellow in the American College of Legal Nurse Consulting
And may use the initials: FACLNC

“Fellow in the American Institute of Health Care Professionals in Stress Management”
And may use the initials: FAIHCP

“Fellow in the American Institute of Health Care Professionals in Spiritual Counseling”
And may use the initials: FAIHCP

“Fellow in the American Institute of Health Care Professionals in Meditation Instruction”
And may use the initials: FAIHCP

“Fellow in the American College of Hypnotherapy”
And may use the initials: FACH

"Fellow in the American Institute of Health Care Professionals in Pastoral Thanatology"
And may use the initials: FAIHCP

"Fellow in the American Institute of Health Care Professionals in Crisis Intervention Counseling"
And may use the intitals: FAIHCP

Timeline & Fee Schedules

Fellowship shall be for a 5 year period. Re-application is through evidence of continued education in the practice specialty. Current requirements for Re-Certification apply for renewal of Fellowship status. For candidates submitting a project or thesis, there is a one-time fee required of $ 150.00 for peer reviews and processing. This payment is due at the time of submission of the project or thesis.

Project/Thesis Guidelines

Are provided to certified members only upon request to AIHCP.

Publishing Fellowship Thesis

The AIHCP supports and encourages its "Fellows" to have their approved thesis published. We recommend and refer our Fellows to pursue publication with "Scientific Journals International." Access link
